From producing short films to covering events like Open Streets, join us for tips and tricks on recording outside of the studio! During class, you’ll practice as a SPEAK MPLS Crew member to help with Open Streets event video coverage!You'll get hands-on experience with the SPEAK MPLS field production kit, and a toolkit for how to plan and execute a video production outside of the studio. You’ll work in a small cohort to practice with broadcast JVC cameras, handheld Sony cameras, field microphones, and tripods! INSTRUCTOR + BIOJames Harris is the Director of Education at SPEAK MPLS and is a media maker, storyteller, and educator with a decade of experience working in community media. He is passionate about bringing voices together to creatively tell stories. As a media maker and member of the LGBTQ+ community, he strongly believes that media is a powerful tool for sharing experiences and healing. James is also energized by creating opportunities for youth to use media to tell their own stories. In his spare time, James enjoys playing video games, watching horror movies, and playing Dungeons and Dragons!INTRODUCTORY LEVEL CLASSThis class is perfect for beginners and open to all skill levels!
