It’s easy to get stuck in the early stages of putting together a story, and learn how working with a team of writers can help to get it off the ground!In this workshop, writers will share story ideas and we'll explore what format would best amplify your story. We’ll share tips for effective storytelling, flow and structure, finding your audience and more! You’ll also walk away with additional resources to help you bring your story into the production phase. INSTRUCTOR + BIODr. Rachel Raimist is a formerly tenured college professor turned television director who works across genres. She recently directed episodes of the family drama BEL AIR (Peacock), the fantasy THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES (Disney+), the musical UP HERE (Hulu) and the soapy drama SEX/LIFE (Netflix). She has also directed beloved episodes of THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS (HBO Max), WU-TANG: AN AMERICAN SAGA (Hulu), FANTASY ISLAND (Fox), DIARY OF A FUTURE PRESIDENT (Disney+) and others. Raimist holds a B.A. and a M.F.A. in Directing from the UCLA School of Film and Television and a M.A. in Women’s Studies and a Ph.D. in Feminist Studies from the University of Minnesota. At the Directors Guild of America, she serves as the Co-Chair of the Special Projects Committee, Co-Chair of the Disability Committee, the Alternate Co-Chair of the Women's Steering Committee and on the leadership team of the Women's Steering Committee Women Directors Mentorship Program, The Squad. In her free time, she offers low cost classes on the craft and industry of film and television through ThePeoplesFilmSchool.com.
